Ivory or White?

Wedding Dress-Should I choose Ivory or White?

Many Brides to be are asking that question?

Should I go with the "Traditional Clean Bright Crisp White" wedding dress?

Or go with an "Elegant Sophisticated Vintage Soft Ivory" wedding dress?

Does it depend on the person and style or theme of the wedding? Or does it depend on whether or not it is the First or Second time around?

Maybe? Or does it depend more on the personality of the Bride herself?

Probably a little of all of the above.

Ivory Wedding Dresses

Are not just for the Second Time Around!  Ivory Wedding Dresses have a soft elegance about them that White Wedding Dresses don't have.  Ivory usually looks better against anyone's skin color and tone, better than White.  If you are thinking about planning to choose an Ivory Wedding Dress for your wedding, or planning an All Ivory Wedding, there are some things to consider.

When planning your Ivory Wedding, keep it simple and elegant. If you go overboard with many different styles and items to give it the interest, since almost everything is Ivory, you will junk it up and lose the elegant sophisticated feel.

Add different complementing fabrics for textures, which will create different shades of Ivory. Even though it is the same color the fabric textures will create shadows and look like different depths of the same shade of Ivory. However, make sure it is the same shade of Ivory. Like all colors, there are many shades or tones of each color, and if you mix together the wrong tones, it will look really bad resulting in Cheap!!

Selecting different fabrics and accessories for the Bridesmaids dresses and the Maid of Honor dress, from the Brides dress, may or may not work! You might select the same fabrics and accents but use them in a different way or place to compliment each other, but still maintain uniqueness. Again without it getting to be too much. That will also create the depth and interest in highlighting each dress and the elegance to the all Ivory Theme.

If you wanted to have all of your BridesMaids and Maid of Honor dresses to continue with the same theme, some Wedding Planners have suggested you purchase the same dresses, maybe very simple in style and decorate them with the same accents, making the Maid of Honors slightly more unique from the others to set her apart.

Creating slightly unique bouquets, or slightly different sizes, or adding one simple additional flower to the Maid of Honors bouquet or a different color ribbon will create enough of a difference.

Possibly have all of the dresses and the accents be the same, but attach a unique color sash or ribbon to either each dress for color, or just to the Maid of Honors dress.

Many different fabrics and re-embroidered lace on netting, pearl & crystal beading and sequins and anything else that can be sewed or glued down, can turn any simple dress into an unbelievable one of a kind sensation.

Couture Bridal Style on a Budget

It’s no secret that purse strings are getting tighter. For brides-to-be, planning for the biggest day of their life, their budgets have to stretch even further than ever before.

Many people think that they have to break the bank when purchasing a wedding gown. How about buying a bridesmaid dress and using it as your gown instead.

They can be just as lovely and come in white and ivory—for a fraction of the cost! Add a brooch or a sash, or even creatively placed barrettes to create your own designer gown for less!

An added tip – if you've fallen in love with a silk gown but can't afford a silk price, ask if the manufacturer could create that same dress in a different, more affordable fabric.
